The Kids Write Network program is unique as it is easily adapted into school curricula or after school as well as in community centers and hospitals.
It can be implemented as a special project, in English classes, leadership classes or into any of the four art disciplines:
Educators and staff are trained and given the KWN workbook that allows them to follow the 6 steps of the program. It can be done in 6 x 45 minute classroom sessions for students aged 12+. It is also available for elementary school students as young as 7 years old. Once the students have gone through the KWN 6 steps, students decide how they will become authors of their work which can be presented through writing, as an art/illustration, through writing music or using their body to express themselves. Upon special requests, Les Twins visit the schools that have implemented the KWN offering their mental health tailored workshop. The workshops are made accessible through community venues ( depending on capacity ) in order to reach youth to demonstrate how they use dance and body movement to cope with their mental health struggles. They share their techniques, global education, experiences, and speak to students about self-love and acceptance.
The KWN program follows a scientifically validated six-step process researched at McGill University in Canada that combines positive psychology with neuroscience. The program is designed to help students learn to communicate and work through negative experiences and build confidence and resilience. As of today, 4 articles have been submitted for publication.
Upon enrollment, the KWN provides an exclusive 3 hour training ( at no cost) for educators who use the platform to assist students in regulating emotions, increasing coping skills, and focusing on a positive mindset before their participation with Les Twins. This approach helps students understand how the work they produce through the KWN ties in with the workshop.
Having had great success in Canada, the Rise for Mental Health Tour is launching in the USA in October 2023. The RISE tour kicks off in Atlanta, Georgia at Pace Academy. The US chapter of the KWN is based in Georgia. We are looking forward to making an impact on youth across America! Book your school, community center, hospital or institution to receive the KWN program licenses and the Les Twins workshop.
